1. Activate the yeast in the lukewarm milk with a little sugar.
2. Add the egg, melted butter, sugar, salt and the yeasty milk to the flour, then knead a soft yeast dough.
3. Let it double in size, then shape into small balls.
4. Roll the balls in melted butter, then in sugared ground walnuts, and layer them in a buttered dish.
5. Let them rise again, then bake at 180°C until golden.
6. For the custard, cook the milk with the egg yolks, sugar, vanilla sugar and flour until thick.
7. Serve the golden dumplings warm with plenty of vanilla custard.
